Anomalous Arctic_Image 1.jpg

It is here contended that just discovered Arctic Ocean "Hotspots" are generated by powerful seafloor geological heat flow and associated heated fluid flow, not Climate Change. New research studies indicate that these well defined, geographically limited, and very warm ocean Hotspots are responsible for much of, if not all of, anomalous Arctic Sea Ice melting.

This article will; briefly review the pertinent research studies supporting a geological heat flow origin to Arctic Ocean Hotspots, discuss implications relative to Antarctic Sea Ice melting, and finally suggest needed changes to the current methodology Climate Science Research.

Seafloor geological heat and associated heated fluid flow origin to these Hotspots comes from numerous reliable modern research studies as following.

This adds to evidence already published by our team which showed geographical "Hot Spots" of enhanced mixing resulting from both tidal and wind driven currents over the continental slope region. These hot spots lead to sufficiently large heat fluxes which can completely melt a 2m thick slab of sea ice in a year ... A/1 this information combined has led us to predict that in a future Arctic Ocean with greater areas of open water, there will be enhanced heat fluxes resulting from increasing levels of wind driven turbulence. But it will be geographically restricted to "Hot Spots", which lie over regions of steep topography such as the continental shelf break at the edge of the basin, and the ridges which cross it."

Direct tie between the position of seafloor geological heat flow to the position of overlying Arctic Ocean Hotspots, the presence of associated massive vertical ocean column turbulent zones which deliver the geological heated fluid to the surface, and confirmation of a 1,500 mile long seafloor geological heat flow engine. Sea Ice Melting, non-moving, and geographically limited Arctic Ocean Hotspots.

The recent confirmation very tall vertical columns of ocean turbulence is a relatively new concept in climate science.

Large circulating system. The Mid-Arctic Rift/ Fault System ... geologically heated seawater associated with large seafloor fault/ rift systems is a proven and in fact common phenomenon. In 1998 the US Government formed an entire group, PMEL, to study huge seafloor heat pulses termed "Mega-Plumes". The reader is directed to a previous Climate Change Dispatch (CCD) article for more details concerning MegaPlumes.

Clearly it is no longer reasonable to insist, as per past statements by consensus climate scientists, that manmade warming of Earth's atmosphere is the direct and complete cause of anomalous Arctic Sea Ice melting. Begrudgingly accepting this new information as correct, the climate science community has once again significantly adjusted the supposedly 97% settled Climate Change/ Global Warming Theory. This steady progression of adjustments to the Climate Change/ Global Warming Theory since its inception in 1995 have rendered it almost unrecognizable relative to its original tenets and projected climate influences. Some argue that theories which constantly require major revisions have an inherent problem and should be relegated to hypothesis status.

The basic problem with the Global Warming/Climate Change Theory from the very beginning, and still in large part today, is that it assumes Earth's atmosphere is the overwhelming dominant driver of climate. A growing body of evidence shows that this assumption is incorrect, and that other natural forces play a significant, and in some cases dominant role in driving Earth's climate, weather, and climate related events.

It is here contended that geological forces, as per the Plate Climatology Theory, are the most under-appreciated and underrated of these natural forces. To find evidence supporting this contention it is only necessary to; unbias our minds, look north, and realize that anomalous melting of Arctic Sea Ice is largely related to sea floor geological heat and associated heated fluid flow, and to a much lesser degree on atmospheric forces as per the Climate Change Hypothesis.
